I took my truck in for a driverside power mirror problem (it would not extend).
The passenger side power mirror worked just fine. They found out the mirrors
are from Power Vision and needed me to orders replacement parts for it. I was
fine with that and they even gave me a website to order the parts from. What
chapped my chain is the fact that now the passenger side mirror does not even
move. They took the driver side mirror apart (fine and expected) but to unplug
the passenger side mirror control and not return it to the original operational
status was inexcusable. I will never return there again.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Avoid,
Took truck in to get fuel gauge sender replaced under warranty. I had already
bought the part, and knowing their reputation for being really slow for getting
parts, I gave it to them to expedite the fix. I didn't have time to do fix myself
due to a ship deployment. I had already determined, per the FSM that the sender
was the problem and told the tech what I found. They stated, "we can't use your
findings and have to check ourselves." Fine, whatever. They replaced the sender
and called my wife to pick up the truck. She got it and when she got home noticed
that diesel was pouring out from under the truck. She called the dealer and
he told her to "drive it down" and they would look at it. She said, "You broke
it, you come and get it." They told her again to drive it down, at which point,
she asked for them to put in writing that they would be responsible for driving
a vehicle with leaking fuel back to the dealership!!! (I love my wife!!) they
went on to whine about not having a wrecker to get the truck (see they didn't
want to drive it). She told them tough, not my problem, you caused it. Finally,
after much whining, they came out and tightened the fuel fittings. No more leaks,
just sloppy work. They tried to push around my wife while I was a 1000 miles
away on patrol. That really JERKS MY CHAIN!!!

Sales=Good, Service=Avoid,
In October 1998, I ordered a 1999 Dodge Dakota from this dealership. This is
a dealership in a small town, so I spoke directly to the owner (no sales people).
Got a good deal on my truck, I got it for just over 500 over invoice (they were
desperate to sell to me) after doing some negotiating. The dealership's owner
treated me well, and kept me updated on the truck. Truck was delivered on time,
and as promised. No problem with the sales department. As for the service department,
I think the service guys are almost the most incompetent out there! The 318
V8 in my truck suffered from a pinging problem that I diagnosed as a bad set
of spark plug wires. (I used to work at a Denver, Colorado Chrysler/Jeep dealership
so I know my stuff) Instead of even checking to see if I was right, they treated
me like I was an idiot. After replacing the intake manifold gasket, the intake
belly pan gasket, and reprogramming the PCM the pinging problem still existed.
The reprogramming made my truck run worse w/ worse MPG to boot! Of course they
can't un-do this! Eventually I just said, "screw it" and replaced the plug wires
with some Taylors I got from Summit Racing. Pinging GONE! I should have done
this in the first place. I've had other problems w/ the truck, all what I would
consider minor. The service guys couldn't even properly install a new set of
AC climate controls (4 screws and it has alignment pegs!) they still managed
to get it in crooked! It also takes them forever and an eternity to order
any parts (none are ever in stock). It was a nightmare getting the crumbling
foam seat cushions replaced, took about 3 months for parts to come in! I had
some other problems with the truck, but I just waited until I went to school
in Fairbanks in the fall to get those corrected. Unfortunately the service dept.
in Fairbanks is marginally better, but I guess that would be covered on another
dealership form. After talking around with MANY Dodge owners, I came to the
conclusion that there is no such thing as a good Dodge service dept. in Alaska.
If only there was a dealership here that ran similarly to my former workplace:
a diamond and 5-star certified dealership. Don't see those here in Alaska. Its
sad too, because I think there would be lots more loyal Chrysler owners around
if there were good dealerships here.
