Way out of line on pricing, and tried to steal my trade in. Turned around and
a week later bought a nicer unit in TN for less money and no hassle. This dealership
seemed to have more salespeople than it did vehicles.

I called the dealership to inquire about the add on the radio. I asked if there
were any Dakotas left for $12990.00, I was told there were by a salesman. When
I arrived about 30 minutes later there were none left according to the same
salesman. I drove another Dakota that was very close to the ones they had on
sale. The salesman brought the sales manager to give me the price for the one
I drove. He brought a blank piece of paper with the figures for both trucks
prices written on it. The difference between the two was a thousand dollars
(not that big of a deal). The problem I had was the bottom line for the one
that was on sale was $17995.00 after tax, tag, and title. He started off by adding
in a destination charge of $675.00 and a $400.00 rebate of some kind that "must"
be added into the price so it could be taxed before I could get it, then tax,
tag and title. I'm sorry but tax, tag and title together are not $5,000.00 unless
the tax has been changed from 9% to 35%. I have no issue with someone selling
me a vehicle for the actual price they advertise plus actual tax, tag, and title,
but when they just use the add to get me into the dealership to sell me something
more expensive is what I don't like at all. I bought a jeep from the same dealership
before the name change years ago and the same tactic was used. I went in there
looking to buy the advertised wrangler but they were out and I bought a more
expensive one. The name may have changed but the same bait and switch is still
being used. If Greater Birmingham Chrysler Dodge is a five star Dodge Chrysler
certified dealer then the five star rating for ANY dealership isn't worth the
ink used to print it on the sign.
