Sales=Good, Service=Poor, Parts=Don't Know, bought there=Yes, scv_there=Yes, Buy_DaimlerChrysler_again=Maybe,
In the Spring of 2003 my wife went to the Service Dept because the inside of the doors on my 1999 Ram 1500 Quad Cab were rusting along the seams and welds. The Service Dept Rep who couldn't even be bothered to look at the vehicle, told her it wasn't their problem and it wasn't a warranty issue. I took it back myself a week later and was given the same blow off. I contacted Daimler Chrysler directly, but was told I had to go through the dealership, which I knew would be a long ugly process. This past May, as my warranty expiration approached (or so I thought), I took it back. This time they actually took the time to look at the doors, which they agreed were rusting out, but then informed me that the warranty for this type of problem had expired (apparently the 7 yrs/70,000 mile warranty they advertise isn't very comprehensive. Body defects are only 5 yrs/50,000 miles...so it was still under warranty when I first approached them). I contacted Daimler Chrysler again to complain (case # 12315126). Matt at Daimler Chrysler told me that they had followed up my initial complaint with a form/letter to Burlington Dodge, but Burlington Dodge did not bother to respond to Daimler Chrysler about the letter or follow up on the issue with me. Daimler Chrysler offered to make good on the necessary repairs, but that I would be responsible for a portion the work. Since Burl Dodge does not have a body shop, they would contact an independent body shop for an estimate and get back to me. I had to call Daimler Chrysler 5 more times to find out what was going on since Burl Dodge's Service Mgr. Mark couldn't/wouldn't return phone calls or contact a body shop. Eventually Daimler Chrysler offered to get the Zone Rep involved, something I had been asking for since day one (a body shop I had visited in the beginning told me this was a common problem and that they knew Dodge was replacing rusted doors, but that I would be facing a long battle with the dealership and would need to get the Zone Rep involved). Finally, in late July 2004, I called again. This time they did a conference call with the Service Mgr. who had finally found a body shop that had agreed to do the work for the "dealers negotiated rate" that I had to go see for an estimate, and that Dodge would cover 50% of the repairs at THEIR reduced rate. I'm waiting for the estimate now. I'm sure I won't like what I'm going to hear.
This is my third, and possibly last Dodge. I know any manufacturer can make a good or bad vehicle, but why does the dealership have to make everything so difficult. I was raised to own up to my responsibilities, not avoid them.

97 Ram 1500 4x4 had a "dealer" extended warranty (avoid this option) so all work HAD to be done by them (first clue). Well the truck had a history of knocking and oil consumption. They said the plugs were fouled and changed them and wires. This went on for a while. Things worked for a while then problems returned. Took it back several months later and the warranty had expired but NOW they all of a sudden see it is a leaking intake gasket which seems to have been a known common problem. They wanted $1500 to fix it ! ! Well, we called around and found a local garage that a friend uses and they did the job and a few other things for $500. Seems since the warranty was their own they avoided fixing the problem knowing what it was and just waited until it expired and then find the trouble, hmmm..... This was our most resent and last problem with them as there were others.
Buying wasn't any worse than any other dealer but the service department are a bunch of incompetent crooks

Brought my truck down to dealership to have alignment done. When I picked up the truck the alignment was done but the steering wheel was way off center. I brought truck back to dealership later and they said it wasn't that bad. The truck steering wheel was way off on a flat parking lot, if you put your left hand at the top and center of the wheel, and started to drive in the parking lot it would move your hand to 10 o'clock. Typical dealership in that when it comes to repairs all they think about is there hours and money instead of actually fixing the truck regardless what the owner says.

Sales=Excellent, Service=Good, Sales department was excellent.  Couldn't ask for any better.  The service department is pretty good.  Would recommend them to anyone!

Sales=Good, Service=Avoid,   Took my truck for a 0.4 mile test drive after complaining of a vibration. They balanced the tires and told me that the vibration was normal. I found TSB 18-49-98 after I was there. They completely missed this one and wasted my time by going there.

Sales=Good, Service=Excellent, I've bought my last two cars here - hassle free, nice people. I have used their service department for 15 years and have always been treated well. They are courteous, kind, prompt, and will go the extra distance to fix whatever is wrong. Highly recommend!

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Poor, Overcharged for spark plug replacement & used cheap parts on brake job -- didn't return phone calls complaining about bad work.

Sales=Avoid, Service=Avoid, I brought my 2001 Ram 2500 v-10 in for a falling brake pedal (master cylinder), and a transmission upshift problem. For 3 months I had been Keeping notes on the issues with the tranny hoping it would help the service dept. When I handed the notes to the service rep. (Russ), he looked at the two pages and grumbled to himself. He threw the clipboard on my hood, which I promptly chewed him out for. After an hour of waiting, the service manager and I took a ride so that I could "duplicate" the problem for them. At the first stop-light, I proceeded to show the manager how the brake pedal goes to the floor and it would pump up. He agreed there was a problem. After the truck was warm, the 1-2 shift was bouncing back and forth. Upon arriving to pick the truck up at 5pm, I was informed that nothing was wrong with the brakes (quote from Russ: "the pedal is supposed to go to the floor"), and they were going to charge me for a brake inspection. When I asked for the punch sheet of the specs of the brakes, they said quickly "we don't fill out spec sheets on brakes....we'll remove the service charge". Russ them piped in and said "this is why we don't like to take in other peoples headaches". Then he flips his hand in the air and says "hmmph...whatever". to top it off, The T.V. cable adjustment they performed made the tranny shift worse. A call the next day (1/19/00) to the general manager resulted in him (Dennis) saying "bring it to another dealer to get it fixed".

Dealership Rating:
Good sales department, good service
Fair sales, fair service
Conflicting or not enough information
