Parts department is unfriendly and if you can get them to work very unhelpful.

A note for car buyers: When you hire an independent shop for a maintenance inspection (a good idea), you pay the bill. If the dealership does not want to repair problems on the the car before selling it to you, that is their option - as it is your option to buy or not buy if they will not perform the repairs. Someone in the showroom with money to buy "as-is" will always win over someone who has conditions on a sale or is in the process of negotiating a sale.
There may be more than one person interested in a particular vehicle - if you really want it, you have to buy on the dealership's terms. If you can wait for something else, you can try to buy on your terms. IMO, the following report does not justify the "avoid" rating given by the customer. Dave

Wanted to purchase used vehicle from used car department. I personally paid a certified service shop that is registered with the BBB to do safety inspection on vehicle. Found out that the safety inspection showed over $1,600.00 in safety repairs. I let dealer know that I was still interested in buying car we need to work something out with the safety repairs. Dealer told me "let me check this out and I will call you tomorrow afternoon!" He never called, so I called him twice the following day. Jim tells me it was sold. I waited for him so that we could continue our negotiations on purchasing this car. I spent my own money to get a safety inspection done on this car. I waited for the dealer to call me back for an update. Dealer never called. I called dealer twice he tells me it is sold. It was made very clear that I was interested in buying this car. If I was willing to pay to have the dealers car safety inspected and allow them to copy the inspection sheet to know what is wrong and what to fix; it would seem as if the fact that I was paying cash for the car and after getting the safety report back I was still willing to work something out to buy the car that I am serious about the buying the car.

Sales=Good, Service=Good,
Sales (parts) for my 95 Ram Wagon. Service done in garage. Courtesy ride home. Poor work projection though, had to get vehicle and come back few days later when they 'assured' me timely completion due to 'part' hold up [they might have let my vehicle sit in their place for a whole week??? Very courteous employees. They will look you back in the eye and say hi and ask if you've been helped.
