Sales=Fair, Service=Avoid, bought there=Yes, scv_there=Yes,
I would (and do) drive the extra distance to Albany to have my vehicle serviced
by a Dodge Dealer. The ineptness of McKay's is unreal. It took them 3 tries
to get a hood ornament back on my '02 2500! And it gets worse from there. It
also took them 5 tries to fix an intermittent problem that they promised to
work with me on, but it took me three times of bringing it in with the condition
happening before they would finally work on it. I asked them if the "diesel
only" on the dash was supposed to be lit up. I was told no, and was charged
for the replacement of a bulb. I asked why. The technician thought it looked
dim, and replaced it. I laughed at him and told them to out the old one back
it, I did not authorize the replacement. I will stop by to schedule an appointment,
tell them what is wrong, ask if they have the part (always "yes"),
bring my truck in, and get it back in the same condition I brought it in with.
"We determined (insert part here) is wrong with it, and have to order the
part." "I told you that was the problem, and then you told me you
had the part, what gives?!?" Previous statement is repeated until you leave
to go somewhere else, or schedule another appointment. Ask about a TSB, good
friggin' luck. You can have the number AND title, and they still can't find
it. Three months later I had another (unrelated) problem, and brought back a
copy from another dealer. They didn't believe me, but then when they checked
with the other dealer, they knew exactly what I was talking about, and that
the TSB was laying right over there...... There is more, but you can see the
trend happening here.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Poor, bought there=No, scv_there=Yes,
Having had experience with another Five Star Dealership which I was extremely
pleased with, I took my car into McKay's to have them check a few things that
I thought might be problems covered under warranty. The warranty on my vehicle
was nearly expired and I wanted to be sure the issues I had noticed would not
become big problems later. I brought the vehicle in to the service center and
asked them to ONLY check the items that I thought might be covered under warranty,
I work in a related service and deal with warranties and their extensive limitations,
so I was aware that there may be a charge for some of the repairs. What I did
not expect to happen was for the dealership to look into general maintenance
issues on the car and call me with a quote for a very costly service. The gentleman
who called me with the quote was even surprised when I refused the work he so
eagerly wanted to do on my car. I am no stranger to being used by service providers,
I look very young for my age, but this kind of coercion has to stop. The trust
I had in the Five Star Dealership program is no longer there, I will find a
mechanic who will be honest and forthcoming with me outside of the dealership.

Sales=Good, Service=Good, They always highball your first cost on a new
car/truck. Come back armed with data and they fold up like an accordion. Come
right down to cost basis. The service department is good, Great scheduling but
very busy for their size. Typically a week wait to get in. When in, things are
done right on time and on money. They get to know their customers reasonably
well. They show interest after the job by calling back for a read out on satisfaction.
All problems minor and handled properly. Never had to return to redo or finish
the job.
