On June 18, 04 we made a deal with the above mentioned dealership and signed
the papers to trade in my son's "old truck" for a new Dodge Neon.
We had driven our van so the four of us could go vehicle shopping we also took
2 pictures of our son's truck with us. The pictures showed the minor front end
damage and the overall quality of the truck. We never misrepresented the truck.
We paid the agreed price in full on that day. The Neon was to be delivered to
the dealership the next morning and we made arrangements to pick it up after
it was serviced. The next morning, on the 19th, my husband and I arrived at
the dealership in my son's truck to trade the truck in and to pick up the Neon
and to sign the final papers. We arrived about 9am. They said the Neon was being
serviced and we would start the final paperwork when the sale manager could
get to it. We realized they were busy and we waited patiently. At about 2:30
that afternoon we were called into the sales manager's office. As we sat to
sign the final paperwork we were told that "we just can't make this deal".
We told the manager that we had signed the papers already and that we already
HAD a deal. He replied that he doesn't like to do business that way but that
he couldn't do the deal because "we would only be making $50.00".
We reminded him that he had approved the deal the day before and that it was
a legal agreement and that he had our paid in full check. He said the guy that
buys their older trade ins came to look at the truck that day, while we were
waiting, and that he told the manager that he couldn't get much money for the
truck. We told him that we did not misrepresent the worth of the truck and the
we were NOT happy that he was backing out on a "done deal". We also
said it was a poor way to do business and that we were very unhappy about being
kept waiting all day while the manager decided to welch on the deal! They returned
our check and we left VERY dissatisfied with that dealership. We could have
taken them to court but it would caused us a lot of stress and heartache and
I had recently had brain surgery and just was not physically up to it.
We were looking to buy another car from them but now we will NEVER give any
of our business to that dealership. We still like the product and have bought
and will buy from another dealership. The sales men on the floor were great and
very helpful. They approved EVERYTHING with their manager before telling us
we had a deal and before we wrote the check. The top manager over sales is who
we have a problem with.
