I am looking for a good used SUV for my growing family. I see a vehicle listed
and go look at it. The car is cheaper than the Kelly blue book value, but it
has half bald cheap brand tires (this is a vehicle that had problems with blow
outs just a few years ago on non cheap brand tires), paint pealing off the hood,
driver and passenger seats need to be reupholstered, one of the keyless enters
does not work, both side view mirrors will not work, and the driver side window
sounds like it has rocks in the motor when it is operated. Mechanically it seems
sound after a test drive and visual inspection. I go to talk to the salesman
(very nice man). The salesman is still never able to get someone in the service
department to get me a copy of the 123 point inspection the car received. The
general manager comes in to wheel and deal. He will only come down on the price
$200, after I made a fair offer for a car that needed at least a week in the
shop. He said that if I spotted all those things wrong with it that maybe he
should not be selling it. That it sounded like I needed to be looking for a
new vehicle. I am sorry, but I drive a 11 year old truck. Just because I drive
an old car does not mean I drive a piece of broken down junk. After continuing
to tell me how they fired the used car sales manager because he could not do
his job, the new guy must have let it slip through the cracks, and he had to
replace a transmission on another car they sold. What??? He said he thinks he
should not sale me that car. I said can you fix what is wrong with it and we
can talk about price again. He said "NO". He said he could go ask
the used car sales manager what he could do (I am sorry, but the general sales
manager can not make a decision he needs to ask a new guy who let it slip through
the cracks). He comes back and says I guess we shouldn't sale you the car, if
it is in that bad of shape that they would sale it at auction. Sorry I am not
stupid I offered way more than they would get at auction and that is without
the wheeling and dealing. So I said good bye. The car they should not sale is
still on the lot for sale.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Poor, Parts=Don't Know, bought there=No, scv_there=Yes,
Buy_DaimlerChrysler_again=No,
I bought my Dodge Intrepid, used, from Hickory Auto Mall. They performed all
my service work. When they closed down, Steve White was the only Chrysler dealership
in the area, so I decided to use them for all work done on my car.
I would call and make an appointment since I have to wait. There is no one that
can pick me up and bring me back. No matter how small the work to be done was,
it was always a two hour ordeal. That includes just having the car serviced.
On one occasion, I took the car in for service and to find out where the A/C
was leaking. They had previously put dye in it. I told them to check the air
and see what it would cost to fix and put some gas in it. I specifically asked
them if it would take very long and they told me it was a very
simple matter. One hour and fifty minutes later, they came and told me what
was wrong, how much it would cost to fix, they had the part in stock, and did
I want them to go ahead. I told them no, I had already been there too long.
I told them I had to leave. That cost me $75.00 for nothing. At that point I
found an auto repair place to start doing work on the car. On 12/17/06, my car
would not start, so I had it towed to my repair shop. I had also been smelling
gasoline while driving. They replaced the starter and said the fuel smell was
from a broken fuel rail. The mechanic called Steve White and spoke to someone
in the service dept. They told him that it had been a recall item and had been
fixed in 1999, but that once a recall always a recall. I made an appointment
for 12/28/06 and took the car up there. I asked about the recall. The service
manager, Luke, said they would not fix it as a recall. I told him that I was
not prepared to pay to fix it. He said if the recall did not have an extended
warranty I would have to pay and that if I was not going to pay then I needed
to go ahead and take the car and leave. Another guy in the service dept. checked
on the recall and told me it did not have an extended warranty and I left. When
I got home, I called Chrysler and spoke to someone in customer service. He said
if the fuel rail was broken for the same reason that it was recalled they should
replace it. If there was some other reason it was broken, then I would have
to pay for it. That was fine with me. He called Steve White and talked to Luke.
Luke told him that I did not allow them to diagnose the problem. I told the
guy at Chrysler that I was told that if there was no extended warranty I may
as well pay or leave, so I left. I am now looking for another dealership that
is close enough that I can call about the fuel rail. If not, I will have to
pay my repair shop to fix it. I think the service manager was very rude and
did not fully explain the matter well to me.

Sales=Fair, Service=Poor, Parts=Poor, bought there=No, scv_there=Yes,
Buy_DaimlerChrysler_again=Maybe,
Service dept. is the worst I've ever seen. Don't listen when you tell them something
is wrong, their reply is that it is supposed to be like that. IT is truly ashamed
that you spend this kind of money on a vehicle and a dealers service department
tells you that's it. especially when you bought/leased the vehicle brand new
and these problems were not there. loose gear shift, radio speaker broke, passenger
side window works when it wants to.
totally not sure if i would ever go to dodge again, especially steve white motors
been telling everyone I know about these problems. I also own a Ford 500, never
been treated like this at Ford they listen when you tell them their is a problem.

I purchased the truck on an ebay auction. I flew from Phoenix to Raleigh/Durham
where they had a car and driver waiting for me and drove three hours to the
dealership. Signed all papers in a professional manner and drove the truck back
to Phoenix.
Truck was as specified in advertisement and hassle free
