CEL came on as I got on 95S. Truck started stumbling bad (misfiring). I got
home and used my neighbor's code reader. Cyl #1 misfire. So I pull the plugs.
Both #1 Cyl plugs are smashed closed. I open them up slightly so I can drive
the truck to the dealer. I get there and the truck is still stumbling really
badly. No joke, 4 people on the way there told me at stop lights "I think
something is wrong with your truck it doesn't sound right". I get to the
Chapman dodge. Service guy comes up "what can I help you with"? I
told him what happen told him to listen to the exhaust. He comes back to my
window. "It sounds normal to me" I told him about the 4 people on
the road that could it running bad but according to this guy all hemi's are
supposed to sound like that. Imagine this. Every time the engine tries to fire
#1 it goes blah... so engine goes. Blahmm blahmm blahmmm blahmm. And this guy
says it's normal. Well he says they'll check it out. I am standing there while
they hook up the computer. And sure enough misfire #1. So they pop the hood
and the mechanic starts to pull the plugs. Which we would all assume would be
the good thing. Except he's pulling the #2 plugs. I speak out and say "why
are you pulling those plugs. The misfire in on this cylinder" (pointing
at Cyl #1) mechanic says "the computer said Cyl #1. So i am looking at
Cyl #1." No, I said, you're looking at Cyl #2. He continues without hesitation.
What do you know plugs are still new looking... isn't that nice... so after
30 min he finally starts to pull the right
plugs. Wow what do you know, they're black and smashed... "You shouldn't
be back here" he tells me "go wait in the lobby. It isn't safe out
here for you. I laugh and walk away. I call my friend who is a service manager
in California and he tells me to just leave Chapman dodge and take it
somewhere else. So I go back to the mechanic and tell him I am leaving and to
put it back to how it was.
He says, "I already changed the plugs and I am going to test drive it to
see if it happens again." I said "no you're going to give me my keys
and you're going to close the hood. I am leaving he says "if I am doing
warranty work then I am going to test drive it." Looking like he is going
to start crying and throwing stuff he jumps in my truck and takes off. I am
now standing there looking at the other mechanic like WTH??? So I call 411 on
my cell phone to get the non emergency police number to report my truck stolen
as I am walking back to the lobby. Just as I get the number he pulls in off
the street and parks it at the service check-in. He goes inside so I get in
but he took the keys. So I find the service manager and he tells me that they
figured out which one was #1 and they are going to go see if they can get it
to do it again. I told him if the truck moves an inch i am calling the police.
So after a few minuets of him getting me a statement for the work they performed.
I was on my way. The funniest thing was the labor hours... 1.5 hours... when
he spent the better half of an hour screwing up. I hope dodge isn't paying all
the dealerships like this. 1.5 hours to pull and replace 4 spark plugs? There
are 16 on my truck and I did all of them in a little over 1.5 hours. Any mechanic
who sees an engine daily and doesn't know which Cyl is #1 is not a good mechanic.
Any person who refuses to give a customer their vehicle after you just showed
them you have no knowledge of what you're doing is not a very good person. The
main issue here though. My hemi engine collapsed both gaps on my spark plugs.
Anyone with the slightest knowledge of engines knows that something has to hit
the plug to collapse the gap. I have heard of well over a hundred people who
have had this same thing happen. Most with #1 Cyl... and all have went to dealers
only to have the plugs replaced. No dealers will scope the cylinders. My truck
does not run the same as it did. And dodge has no idea what I am talking about.
Good luck I am getting a ford ... everything with dodge is like a big secret.
No that's not really a problem. Well I know why dodge doesn't know what the
hell is going on with there vehicles. The dealer writes. "Customer stated
check engine light on replaced plugs runs fine." That's not what I said...
I said the #1 Cyl plugs were collapsed. Ignorance will be the downfall of mankind.
i love my truck but why can't i get it fixed? i had to have the transmission
rebuilt at 20000 miles now my engine is collapsing plug gaps but according to
chapman dodge and reno dodge its ok. the pistons are suppose to hit the spark
plugs i guess.

Took my dodge avenger there, because texaco lube over filled my oil. They have
friend on inside of dodge dealership say they could not have blown my front
or rear main seals by over filling my oil. However, I have up to 70 p.s.i at
70 mph, and it did blow my seals. Would never take my car there again, as they
do not know their own products, and support places that ruins cars just to make
a buck off people.

Talked to Rick Stewart in sales, On 8 separate occasions I told him I wanted
to see a Diesel powered truck. and on 8 separate times he showed me gas powered
trucks. He would argue that a gas powered truck could pull as much as a diesel.
Bad enough with that He got the sales manager involved. He was a little Chinese
guy who did the same thing as Mr. Stewart did. After arguing for 10 minutes
I just left because it was obvious that they wanted to sell the trucks they
wanted to and not the one that I wanted to buy. Are there any honest sales people
out there?

We bought a used car from Chapman Dodge. Thank the Lord we bought the extended
waranty. In the first 3 months of owning the car, it was taken in for service
6 times. Every time, the service dept. kept the car for at least 3 days and
then said only the gas cap wasn't on correctly. They charged us appprox. $80
each time. Once, the window track broke so my window dropped into the door.
Again, they kept the car for three days. We paid the deductible and then found
out that the item actually had a recall and had to fight to get our money back.
After that, the airbag light came on along with the check engine light. Took
it in and they had to replace the computer... that took a week and a half. Then
they admitted all of the previous problems were due to the computer, but they
refused to reimburse us. We had to scream and cause a scene outside the service
area, where potential buyers were hanging around, before they agreed to reimburse
us and let us take our car to a different dealer. They are horrible and have
no idea what they are doing in the service dept.

Turned in an older vehicle for a newer 2000 version. As part of the sales agreement,
they promised if I filled out a customer service questionnaire, I'd get a free
dash mat. Since I live in Las Vegas, a dash mat is required to keep the dashboard
from warping....I agreed to fill out the questionnaire to get the required dashboard
mat.... In the end, they never sent me a questionnaire (even after I asked for
it) - thus they never had to provide 'free' mat. Letters to corporate customer
service also remained unanswered... silence.
Avoid the company if you require assistance from their customer service department....Financial
and service departments work well - Customer Service needs help!

Treated with courtesy and respect. They delivered the truck with a full (26
gallons) gas tank. They told me that the next time I was in Las Vegas to stop
by and they would fill my tank again. I stopped and they filled my tank again
with 23 gallons. I have bought a lot of new cars in my life and have never had
a car delivered with a full tank. Usually you get barely enough to get to the
corner gas station. I would positively buy from Chapman again.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Excellent, bought there=No, scv_there=yes,
I own two vehicles, a 99 Stratus and a 96 Dakota, anytime that I go in to the
dealership with any issue from routine maintenance to major service I am treated
fairly and promptly. This is after I shopped around to find a service department
that actually knew what they were talking about.
I have had that I have had to take both of my vehicles to Chapman to fix various
problems. One such occasion was with my Stratus. It was having an issue with
the Transmission locking in second, I took it to one dealership and they said
that it was a dirty chip (…) less than 6 months later it did it again and I
took it to Chapman, they got it in and right away came back and let me know
that the chip was toast. I told them about the previous service call, they let
me know that the dirty chip was really a reprogramming of the chip. Chapman
changed the chip and 2 hours later I was on the road.
One other time I had to take in my Dakota to get service and I asked if they
would rotate the tires. They were able to get all but one, seems that the lug
was welded to the bolt, well after a tech in service heehawed on how to remedy
the issue, the service guy went and grabbed someone else and watched as he cut
the bolt. The only humorous bit (well I thought so) was that they did not have
a replacement handy…(the truck was not due in till that night.) So a service
guy went across the street to a tire store and bought the bolt. Total cost to
me…one oil change…
Overall I recommend them.

once you make a deal they don"t seem to have time for you anymore. They lie
and do what ever they could to get you to buy. Then you're on your own. I will
never ever darken their doorway again
