It's good to see that there are web sites like this that help people vent with
possibility that someone will read the remarks and prevent "save"
them from going to the wrong Dealership. I believe that Dodge makes good vehicles
it's just a shame that you have to put up with bad elements to get the vehicle.
My wife and I bought a used (2000) jeep Cherokee sport a little over two years
ago and the experience was horrible. My wife spotted the jeep online at the
dealerships website and really loved it. I'm a shopper and wanted to look around
and get the best price. We'll it turns out there was a lot of junk out there
so we ended up getting the jeep at Smithaven Dodge/Jeep. They had a competitive
price on the truck so my wife printed the web page and we went down. When we
got there they said the jeep was gone but had a similar one for little more.
Unfortunately we didn't check the vin number until after the purchase (stupid
on our part) and yup it was the same vehicle that was online. Sound like bate
and switch in a sort to me. We even show them the print out and they lied. When
we finally agreed on a prince we made arrangements to come back in a few days
(snow storm) and pick up the vehicle. When we got there the price suddenly changed.
They wanted us to pay 17% interest which was insane and wasn't going to happen.
We argued over the percentage and every time the % went down the price of the
service contract went up. The Fat SOB finance guy (which I recommend you avoid)
was stupid enough to have his computer screen facing us for us to see. After
arguing even more I stood up and said we are out of here and my wife started
to get upset. The finance guy said hang on and left the room and when he came
back he finally had a deal close to original with some price stipulations that
I still find shady. We got 7.9 percent and were told we had to get these stickers
on the vehicle with insurance identification number just in case the vehicle
got stolen which I still think is a crock. The fat guy said it was mandatory
to have this or the insurance company won't insure us and we wouldn't be able
to get the rate we did. They basically blackmailed us to get a little more money
from us. Trust me I know we should have walked but this was my wife's dream
vehicle and I have to admit it was in awesome shape for the year. All in all
do yourself a favor DO NOT GO TO SMITHAVEN DODGE/JEEP. The people checked their
souls at the door when they got hired and will do anything short of selling
their mother for a buck to get as much of your money as possible. Once they
get your money they don't even know you. Avoid this dealership at all costs
and if it turns out that you absolutely have to get a vehicle there stay away
from the fat SOB with the filthy mouth. You'll regret it!

I have not had one bad experience with this dealer! The sales is always helpful
and knowledgeable, the parts dept. goes the extra mile for any charge that I
approach them with and the service is superb. Maybe it's my approach but they
make the whole process effortless.
Keep up the good work Ladies and Gentlemen

If you bring your car for service there they hit you up with hard sales for
additional work that you don't necessarily need.

Simply put, Smithhaven Dodge is a bunch of crooks that know all of the scumbag
tricks of the car sales trade. They will use the smoke and mirrors to screw
you out of every last penny. Don't be fooled by the smiles. They are not working
for you.

IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING A FIVE STAR DEALERSHIP FOR A REASON, READ ON...
First Attempt, Early August 2003
Visited dealership at 7:30 pm to discuss dodge 2500 truck GVW towing capability
and obtain pricing. Salesman has ZERO knowledge of any truck manufactured especially
a Dodge. After scrambling for 10 minutes he opens the 4" specification
manual and is still unable to identify the correct truck or specifications.
After 1 hour and 15 minutes and no information the salesman tells me that his
shift is ending and we will need to make an appointment if we really want any
further information.
Attempt 2, Late August, 2003
Contacted dealer through credit UNION affiliation and made an appointment to
visit different salesman. I advised him of the first disappointment and was
still willing to give them a chance. I test drove the 2500 successfully, however
they did not have all the options I wanted on an in-stock truck.
Attempt 3, October 2003
Arrived to Dealer at 7:30 pm and discussed pricing for a factor order. I placed
a factor order on October 24, 2003 for a Dodge 2500 SLT $28,500.00. Contacted
the salesman 8 weeks later in December 2003 to confirm deliver and was told
my new truck was in transit to their dealership. Contacted the dealer the last
week in December 2003 requesting an update on the truck delivery. They advised
me they could not track the location, I requested the truck VIN # and was told
that due to the holiday shutdown at the Dodge Corporate office they could not
access or track my order until January 5, 2004. On January 5, 2004 I contacted
the dealer requesting a delivery update and the VIN #, they advised me they
contacted Dodge and were waiting to receive feedback regarding the truck location.
I contacted the Dodge Customer service directly and requested information regarding
the factory order. Dodge customer service retrieved a partial VIN# from the
dealership and advised me that they could not locate the vehicle and that the
dealer would need to further investigate the vehicle status. I contacted the
dealership and left numerous messages with my salesman requesting a a vehicle
update. Most calls were either not returned or were returned days later still
providing no clear answers on the truck status or location. The second week
of January 2004 I spoke with main sales office and was advised that they are
unable to identify the truck VIN # or actual truck location. I contacted Dodge
customer service to lodge a full complaint and request assistance. Dodge advised
me that all orders are sold directly to the dealerships. The dealerships have
the identical computer monitoring system with real time order update information
and can see exactly where the truck is and it's status. Dodge advised me that
they immediately contact the dealers in the event of any delays or problems
and that it is the dealer's responsibility to relay the information to the purchaser.
I requested that Dodge customer service contact the dealership and try obtaining
any information regarding my order. The dealership's response was that I knew
they were looking for a replacement truck within the TRI State area. I called
the dealership to complain and was told that the regional salesman manager would
contact me ASAP, no response. I am in the process of disputing the $500.00 deposit
left on the vehicle.
It is amazing how any company could conduct business in the manner in which
this dealership does. I strongly suggest you that YOU DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD
EARNED MONEY AT THIS DEALERSHIP. THIS DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE FIVE STAR STATUS
FOR A REASON.
I just placed a new order at Thomas Dodge last night and will post a comment
on that experience at a later date.

Avoid like the plague...I took my vehicle in routine maintenance and when I
got it back, the lights no longer stayed on after shutting off the engine, a
feature I really liked. I was told they "didn't touch them".Next,
I went in for an emergency brake repair: they told me I had to have all brakes,
drums, etc replaced in the rear. $875.00 later, the emergency brake was not
fixed. That was the last time I took my vehicle to them. I swore I would never
go to them again and told my friends and family about my experiences. My sister
was on vacation and didn't hear of my experience...and brought her car in for
a horn-repair. The guy told my sister she needed a serpentine belt and tensioner
for $280. She said ok, and then called me. I ran down there and met her and
together we went to the service department to stop the work: it was 25 minutes
since he told her it would be a 2+ hour job: we were told the work was already
finished. I took it to my guy who said they really !
did replace the belt and tensioner. My only guess is that somehow their workman
got vehicles confused, replaced her belt/tensioner and when they realized their
error, came out and told her they 'just noticed' she needed a new belt/tensioner.
Then they got nasty when she questioned how it took just 25 minutes vs. 2+ hours.
Absolute thieves.

They have the most incompetent service department on the eastern seaboard! After
several attempts to correct the same problem the Van still doesn't drive right.
I will never buy another dodge product, and NEVER deal with Smithhaven Dodge
