Picked up a used 2002 2500 September 23 2005. Vehicle leaked oil & did not run correctly as soon as I picked up the truck. After picking truck up from engine repairs transmission was intermittently stuck in drive(will not up or down shift).
Oil leak: It took 3 trips to the service department to correct the oil leak. valve cover gasket, oil lines, rear main seal
Engine Problem: The 1st time I dropped off the truck I was told they had adjusted the injector pump & throttle position sensor, this did absolutely nothing. 2nd trip Injector pump & transfer pump have been replaced. Second day after picking up the truck the tranny problem arose.
Tranny Problem: 1st trip a shift relay was replaced. I did not even get out of the lot, truck stuck in DRIVE!! 2nd/ 1st trip, to date the valve body has been replaced ( not fixed ), a computer shift module has been ordered.
As of 11/8/05 this is the 27th day the vehicle has been out of service. On 10/31/05 I asked the sales manager to buy the vehicle back for the selling price& I would buy a new 2005. His response was for me to LOSE $2,850.00 from the selling price on a trade in. What a joke!!!
I am currently working with the NYS Attorney General to force the dealership to buy back the vehicle.
