Bought a new 2005 Dodge truck (not from this dealership) and now I discover
in November 2007 once I have a tire going down that the it takes a special socket
to get the lug nut off. I don't know why they did this. Who would want to steal
a factory Dodge wheel? I have a tire going down every day or two and can't get
it fixed. I cannot find my special tool don't remember ever getting one with
the truck. I can't find a dealership that can get this tire off. Dodge cannot
give me another one using my vin number. Quinn Dodge dealership service department
were friendly and tried to get the tire off using their tool but had no luck.
I went to the parts department to see if I could order a new set of 4 lug nuts
with a new key. I stood around for probably 10 minutes at the counter watching
the parts guy enter something on the computer while I was trying to keep my
3 year old grandson under control. The parts guy had his back to me and never
acknowledge that I was there and never said it would be a minute or anything.
Surely he heard me talking with the grandson. Anyway I got tired of waiting
and left. I don't have any plans to go back to that dealership. I have to make
a 500 mile trip this next week and hope I don't have a flat. I like Dodge trucks
but not happy with this special key situation needed for the wheels.
Be sure and check your dodge truck wheel and see if it takes a special socket
to get the wheel off and make darn sure you have it in your truck. I don't think
I ever got one and Dodge has no way of ordering you a new one or getting your
old wheel off. I found a tire shop that said they could use a tool and take
it off but would ruin the special nut. Why would Chrysler they put a lock on
a set of factory dodge truck wheels. Not like everyone is jumping to steel them
and why doesn't Chrysler have a way to replace the tool if you loose it. I have
a special ignition key for a 1993 Firebird that has a computer chip and All
I have to do is give my vin number and get a new key.
