I had my 2004 dodge Ram Turbo diesel Dually towed in for service (12/28/05)to Timberline Dodge. I purchased this vehicle from Timberline Dodge of Portland, Oregon 912/6/04). This truck cost me approx. $55,000.00 and I also purchased an extended warranty from Daimler which has been wonderful along with the people I've had to deal with; however, Timberline Dodge gave me the run around. My appointment was honored, but I couldn't get a diagnosis of my truck. I have lots of responsibilities and needed to know when I could get my truck, so that I could rent a vehicle if necessary. I was told to call back the next morning at 9:00am which I did and I was left on hold quite a while, I hung up and called again. I was on my cell, so I hung up again and called back on a land line, I asked to speak to a supervisor. I talked to Tony, he said the diesel mechanic was sick so I asked if he had only one diesel mechanic and he said that is all they needed and I said yes if he never gets sick. I asked for a window of diagnosis and eventually repair completion and he said that he would call me back and I asked for his boss. Tony gave me the dealership owner (Art Lawn ?) not sure on the name spelling. I explained to Art my dilemma and said that I just want to know approximately when I could get my truck. Art explained that if a person was sick there's nothing that can be done about it and if I didn't like that I could take my truck to another shop. This is terrible because I just gave Daimler an outstanding rating. I told Art that I just wanted a window of completion so that I could arrange my days accordingly. He accused me of having an attitude, Yes I did but only after he told me I could take my truck somewhere else (I don't remember the exact lingo, but maybe it was recorded and you can listen to the recording for all of the calls I made). I bought that truck from him and this is how he treats me. I don't want to think maybe it's because I'm black and I know the old story, how could he know over the phone, please don't insult my intelligence. I won't go there, giving the benefit of the doubt; however, my wife has an escalade ext that she is going to sell and buy the Crossfire but I don't think I will do business with such a non professional company which has been rude to me. There was one bright side to Timberline Dodge and that was the professional attitude of Monica and Larry Cole. Monica handled my appointment to get my truck in and Larry actually defused the problem that his boss created, Kudos to both of them. I know that a lot of things flow downhill, but Monica and Larry's professionalism definitely did flow down from their boss.

The old dealership game of holding someone's keys, ID, or registration hostage to force a deal is totally unacceptable. If you can't make the deal, let the customer go to another dealership. That's what the free market is all about! Dave F

I had 2 dodge diesel pickups previously, and I went down to buy a new 04, the sales guy was very nice and helpful, but when we sat down to make a deal, the manager was very rude and cocky from the start. Tried to tell me that a 5 speed auto was an option for a diesel and that overloads were not an option(even though there was two trucks in the showroom with them on them)and I was ok with that, but his attitude was bad. He sat down for approx. 15 min. and then told me I was wasting his time and got up and left. I was there for about 2 hours driving to different lots and looking for keys too gates, but I guess my time isn't very important. I have worked on trucks for over 15 years and we have bought parts from timberline for as long as I can remember( with good results), I was very disappointed when I went to make my biggest purchase and will not go back

Sales=Excellent, Service=Excellent, bought there=Yes, Scv_there=Yes,
As I was driving down the street about 20 mph I heard a quiet thump in the back of my truck. Then I started hearing a whirring sound as I continued and the vehicle was either at speed, or coasting. I happened to be a few blocks away from Timberline so I went straight there. They took me right in and test drove my truck. They also heard the sound, and said it was from the rear end. This was on a Friday and by the following Monday they had found a keeper broken off and ground up in gears. They took out every thing except the housing it’s self and replace all gears, bearings, and fluids. (under warranty)They also informed me of a recall on the heater fan wiring, and ordered parts to replace it. The recall had only come out that day. A week later I was having the recall work done, and told them about some small bubbles I had noticed in the leather on the steering wheel. They ordered a replacement steering wheel and I just got it installed. During all this they were courteous and professional. The work on my truck was completed at the times promised. That rear end sure cost Chrysler a pretty penny, and they did not even flinch to provide the service required. Due to Todd the Assistant Service Manager, I may be considering changing my opinion of Dealer Service Departments. Like the majority of folks I have been very skeptical of them, but that may be passing. (naaaah, gotta keep an eye on them). Caught the major problem with the rearend before it became a major problem.

These people are nice. They go the extra mile for the people who buy vehicles from them. I don't understand how someone can say that they have bad service or are rude!!
The Dodge is the most reliable vehicle there is. I can say that because I have dealt with many vehicles in my time and I have had the best results with the Dodge.

Poor customer relations same problem with the trans in truck 4 times and the response was negative every time. They finally conned me into exceeding the warranty the last time and I am faced with a 4000$ bill now . I will Never do business with these people again. Daimler Chrysler are as bad or worse than the dealer . I asked for arbitration on the problems and was refused by corporate this mfg. is not owning up to a major problem in its transmissions.

I have purchased a 97 Dakota excab 4x4, and an 02 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 here. Both times the sales experience has been great. I have ordered both trucks, and I am particular about what it is I am spending a lot of money on. Timberline has been excellent to deal with, and when I get my next truck it will be from them (if they still have the best price). They were honest in their dealings, and stand by what they say. I had a problem with the drivers seat being loose and had to take it in twice before they found it. Once they did find the problem they swapped the seats right out of another truck so my problem would be resolved. It doesn't get much better than that. The other day I returned for a problem and received as good of service as before. I have bought parts from them and found the cost to be reasonable for dealer only items. I highly recommend them as a dealer to everyone that asks about my Ram.

I took my 2001 ram pickup there to have the oil changed it took 1 hour then they wanted to charge me 49.95 for it plus they said I need about 1500.00 dollars of work done so I told them I would get back to them I took to another dealer and the thing Timberline tried to sell me did not need to be done so I will never go there again.

Sales=Excellent, Service=Excellent,
SALES DEPARTMENT: I bought my new Ram pickup from them in 1998. The sales staff were excellent. They were able to answer all my questions and yet didn't twist my arm to buy. It was a good experience.
SERVICE DEPARTMENT: I was impressed with the knowledge of the service department person. After taking my car to another local "Chrysler" dealer with an obvious electrical problem, they were unable to find the cause. I drove away with a broken car and a bill for $75. The service department person at Timberline was able to tell me right away what the problem was without even hooking it up to a machine. I was very impressed. I was able to pick my car up that evening.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Poor,
First try with a Dealer service department. I called ahead made the appointment and explained in detail the problem and where it was. Wife took truck in was met by a shady looking guy wearing all kinds of gold jewelry and earrings. He told her no work would be done unless she signed saying she would pay $70 whether they found a problem or not. After hearing that I called him, I told him again where the problem was and that I wasn't very happy about him being rude to my wife. Well by the end of the day they called all the noise "just body mounts moving around, they all do that". At least he had enough sense to say "don't worry about the $70 I wont charge you for that". But he still did nothing to fix the problem.

Sales=Good, Service=Excellent,  I bought through the fleet manager and there was no haggling. The service department offers quick response and seems genuinely concerned about customer service. My truck came with lifetime lube and oil changes, which they no longer offer. Owner has just one dealership and seems to stay focused on Dodge.

I purchased my truck from the fleet manager, Russ Ficek.  Very straightforward. Quoted price over phone,  $xxx over dealer invoice.  I flew in from San Francisco Bay Area and picked up truck.  Everything was as promised.  Highly recommend.

Sales=Good, Service=Avoid,
Service department is short when it comes to knowledge of vehicle. Had to argue over what the problem was several times before they conceded that I was correct. Many repairs had to be performed up to three times before they performed it correctly. Avoid Timberline at all costs for service, or do your homework before you go in for service.

Stopped in with a transmission problem while passing thru Portland. They worked on truck without an appointment and corrected the problem. Also replaced a headlight that was leaking and fogging up. Both items under warranty. Very accommodating!
