In my previous post I praised the svc dept. Now, after many dealings, I can honestly say that I was dead wrong, and that I will never... ever go back. I have gone to them repeatedly for a lack of air at all vents.. They told me the truck was fine... I told them that there was a svc bulletin, and they told me that there wasn't. Then they told me that it didn't apply to me, then they said it did, and had my truck for over a week. That particular visit was for a starter and the tsb on the vents. (note that this was the third time it went in with the complaint of lack of air at all openings) When I got it back, they had broken my e-brake release, and two weeks later, the vents all closed and froze on me again.... DISGUSTED....
Nice truck... LOVE the styling, and value of features vs. cost... Could all my problems be due to being the first year of a new truck???

Paid WAY too much for service. My local mech would have been under half. Said they would most likely have finished that day (surprize!) Still waiting a week later!!!! (No Surprize!) I knew I would get creamed for the expense but the wait is too much. My bad luck made it necessary for me to go there and knowledge is expensive so I'll just chalk it up to the fact I now know not to have ANY more dealings with Bald Hill Dodge!!! As for my truck...I love it, but my next one will not be bought from Bald Hill Dodge either!! And if it broke down right outside the service area (like this did) I would have it towed anywhere else. They also quoted me then found more work to do and did not advise me.
A class act a dealer has to also service cars reasonably well, fast and economically. While I have not dealt with sales I can say from my experience that Bald Hill Dodge should be classified as a Drive By and not a Drive IN.

Ram 2500 Diesel went in for throttle linkage recall. Dealership did not return truck to me in the time promised. Throttle linkage was not tightened properly, thus causing linkage rod to turn upside down. When the linkage rod does this on the diesel, the throttle will not drop below 2200 rpm. If you are in traffic and have to come to a stop, the torque of the diesel at 2200 rpm makes this difficult. Especially if you are towing a trailer like I was at the time the linkage rod decided to flip over. Imagine getting off an off ramp, towing a 6500 lb bobcat, coming up on cars stopped at the end of the ramp, and having to go into the grass to avoid hitting them because your truck will not drop below 2200. This was a direct result of the technician not tightening the rod ends properly on the throttle linkage. I would not take the truck back to the dealership, I tightened the linkage myself. This was 3 months ago. It has been fine ever since. The service manager was contacted, I told him what had happened. He was very understanding, and I was apologized to for the sloppy workmanship of the specific technician.

My 02 1500 Quad cab 4X4 has had repeated problems with the TPS, and the computer not communicating properly. This causes the vehicle to shift improperly, and to lock out of OD. The first time this happened was the day I bought it, 10 minutes out of the dealers lot. The problem seemed to rectify itself about 10 minutes later. The selling dealer (Bedard Bros. Cheshire MA) cleared the code, and sent me on my way. This happened again about 60 days later. This time the TPS was replaced, again at Bedard's. About 60 days later, happened again. Now, living in RI, I went to Bald Hill Dodge. Bald Hill again replaced the TPS, and sent me on my way with a "Co-Pilot". This is like the little black box on an airplane. This box plugs into the diagnostic port under the steering wheel, and maintains a record of the preceding 45 seconds of all readings on all sensors in the vehicle. They said that as soon as the check engine light comes on again to hit the button on the copilot, and it will give them a far more detailed picture of what is going on in the vehicle. Now, I get free oil changes because they feel badly for my inconvenience.
Nice truck. LOVE the styling. Interior noise is a little high, ride is a little stiff. Paint is extremely prone to scratches. My 98 was the same way for the scratching. HATE THAT PART!!!!!!
