My husband and I recently went to Alexander Dodge(Royal Oaks Blvd., Franklin,
TN) because we were considering trading in our current vehicle for a Dodge Caravan.
Everyone knows car salesmen are sleazy in general, but these were the worst
either of us had ever seen. First of all they verbally made a deal with us on
a new minivan, then contacted us the next day and said they never agreed to
that deal but they had a much lesser vehicle that they could "get us into".
Worst of all, they absolutely RUINED our credit by requesting loans from more
than TWENTY different banks without our knowledge. Our credit was pretty good
before, now we can't get a bank to loan us a dime-literally-because of the ridiculously
large amount of inquiries made by Alexander Dodge. I contacted the local news
hoping they'll expose this dealership and spare anyone else. Contact me if you'd
like to share your story on the news.

I had cash and I looked at a minivan and I offered a price and asked them to
clean it up and top off the tank. They said they would clean it up and when
I did carfax it said it was ok but it was wasn't they didn't really clean it
and I felt sick to stomach after the deal and let my husband look at it we left
it there at the dealer and refused to take it back. No where in the paperwork
did it say that I had the customary three days to bring it back if I changed
my mind quite the contrary it said all deals were final and if the van wasn't
help to my expectations then too bad basically.
They make you feel like you are ripping them off when they are ones ripping
you off.

We were traveling home from West TN when our van broke down on Sunday. We got
a hotel room for that night until the dealership opened on Monday. On Monday
we took the van to the service dept. They informed us that the wiring harness
was burned out but they could have us one the very next morning if we would
pay $100 for special handling. So we agreed to pay the extra. On Tuesday morning
the part did not arrive and late Tues afternoon they called to let us know that
the part was shipped to Detroit instead of here. Then the service manager said
he guaranteed it fixed by Wed at 11:30. On Wed morning he calls to tell me that
they had ordered the wrong part and it will now be Monday before our van is
fixed. I remind you we are stranded at a hotel that we are paying for ourselves
and the service dept can not do better than this? All we could get out of the
service dept manager was "well things happen". He then told me that
he doesn't like to work on older model vans since it is mostly guess work. I
asked him why he didn't tell me this on Monday where I could have had it towed
to another dealership that was willing to work on it and he told me "he
wasn't asked". I am totally appalled at the way we were handled by this
service dept and felt you should know this. Also when I asked to speak with
the manager of the dealership he told me he didn't handle service complaints
for me to deal with the service manager. So I asked for my keys and by some
miracle our van started and drove fine all the way home from TN. So after all
the crap we had dealt with for 3 days a wiring harness wasn't even needed.

I bought my first Wrangler at the same lot when it was Harpeth Jeep. I made
the mistake of going back when looking for a new Jeep. The sales people there
were sleazy. They first offered me $9k difference on a trade that the NADA &
Kelley Blue Book said were about $1k off. After an hour and a half, they "were
going to lose their job" for going as low as $6k difference, but wanted
desperately to "put me in the vehicle." I left and they called several
days later with no better offer. I just traded with Global Motor Sports in Nashville
for a better Wrangler than the one I was looking at with Alexander Jeep for
$2k difference. Avoid Alexander Jeep.

I stopped in looking to purchase a good used late model 4 wheel drive SUV. They
assured me that this 2001 Infiniti SUV was not 4 wheel but it was all wheel
and would shift into all wheel drive if I needed it. I drove the vehicle almost
2 weeks and we decided to try it out on a hill and when we got home my husband
looked underneath the vehicle it was only 2 wheel drive. We have taken the vehicle
back. They want to find us another vehicle that will make me happy. They tell
me tell me that in order to get a 4 wheel drive comparable to the 2001 Infiniti,
that I will have to go back in years, for instance they have found a 1999 4
wheel dr. Toyota 4 Runner but I will have to go from a 2001 to a 1999 in order
to get 4 wheel drive for the same costs. I don't think this is fair. At the
present time, the vehicle I purchased it back on their lot and I have no vehicle.
It remains to be seen what the outcome will be.

Worked up a deal that included double rebates. truck I picked out had a mystery
noise when it was unloaded from the transport truck about an hour before I saw
it (I looked at it before it was put together by the dealer) Took them 3 days
to find out what noise was, "no problem take your time and make sure its
right" was my opinion. Then when we went it to sign the papers all of a
sudden they said the double rebates didn't apply to this deal, and this after
waiting on them for 3 days.
Just because a dealer writes it down does not mean it is reality, these people
obviously think the deal is not final until the paper is signed and do not stand
by their word.
