We visited Gulf Gate Dodge twice. The first time to get a test drive. My wife and I were considering a Durango or a Caravan because we have 2 children. We browsed the lot for almost 45 minutes before a salesman slowly walked out towards us. We expressed interest in a Durango and the salesman basically stood there with his arms folded like a statue. We were about 2 weeks away from buying so we really wanted to test drive. We asked him if we could test drive it, and he went to get the keys. During our drive he hardly said anything. If we wanted to know something, we asked questions but he never really offered anything on his own.
The second time we visited GulfGate Dodge, we were ready to buy. But again, we waited too long for someone to come out. This was a different salesman, but he had the same lazy, indifferent demeanor about him as the last guy. We were very frustrated and my wife asked sarcastically if we could test drive the vehicle. The salesman went to get the keys and we waited and waited. I don't know if there was a problem with finding the rights keys or what, but that was the straw the broke the camels back. We just left and drove down to Clear Lake Dodge where bought an 04 Durango. The difference in sales people were like night and day.
I this site is very valuable. If a dealership has a history of bad customer service, then it should be reported to an neutral party like this website. Because complaints to the sales manager or general manager of dealerships stay within that dealership and other customer will never know about them.

Sales=Fair, Service=Don't Know, Parts=Don't Know, bought there=Yes, scv_there=No, Buy_DaimlerChrysler_again=Maybe,
This is an update to my previous entry. 4 days after we bought our Ram 1500 truck. We brought it back to the dealership because my wife was stressed about driving a big truck. She thought it was too big and she had problems driving in traffic and trying to park it in a grocery store parking lot. So we brought it back up there to see if we could swap the truck for a 05 Magnum. We weren't exactly greeted with open arms. First thing the sales manager said was that my time on my job was inaccurate. I put down 7 months, he said it was only 6 months. I knew right then we didn't have a chance of swapping this truck for the Magnum. We had credit problems in the past and we felt like we were being talked down to. They had some legitimate reasons why we couldn't do the swap, but their general attitude and impatient looks made me think if we had better credit, they would have made some exceptions. We were both working and making good money. I ain't no prima donna but we just spend $30,000 bucks on their truck and I think they should have least been more diplomatic in telling us we couldn't do the swap.
I am very happy with this truck, it's solid and strong and it hauls ass.

Our sales person seemed sort of lazy. He shuffled around the parking lot as if he hadn't gotten enough sleep. He was fairly nice, but seemed indifferent to whether we bought the truck or not. At one point, we were not sure if we could afford the payments, so our salesman said he was going to talk to the owner. We saw him step outside and he started talking to some lady smoking a cigarette, I don't think she was the owner.
I don't expect to be catered to, but when you spend $30,000 of your hard earned money, you at least want to see some positive faces and a good atmosphere.

Tried to buy a truck and thought everything was going well found the truck , agreed on the price/trade/payments. they told me it would take about 20 minutes to do the paper work. An hour and a half later they they said everything was approved but it would take a little longer. They had the truck i picked out detailed and brought to me and told me to go ahead and take it home and they would call when the paper work was ready. Three hours later they had not called so i called them. They told me everything was ready come up and sign the papers. When i get there i have to wait so they tell me to go ahead and cut off my trailer brake controller and plugs because they weren't part of the trade. They finally take me back to sign papers and its a person i haven't met all day. After all day telling me all day we had a deal and everything was fine they pulled the switch and jacked the interest and payments and acted like they didn't know what i was talking about. I showed them the the paper with the numbers me and the first manager agreed on and they said they didn't know what that was about. They kept trying to get me to accept the higher interest and payment. So i wasted a day being lied to just to have the ol' number switch pulled on me, and now I'm having a problem getting them to put my trailer brakes back on my old truck, which they told me to go ahead and take off because the deal was done, they just didn't tell me it was there raw deal! this is the second time i have tried to buy a dodge truck, the last time was clear lake dodge and had the same deceptive sales practice pulled on me. I like the dodge trucks but don't believe i will ever get to buy one, I will continue to give my 30 grand to chevrolet.
