Frustrating days at Hinkley Dodge Of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Over the last ten years I have purchased two vehicles form Hinkley Dodge of Salt Lake City. During that time I felt very comfortable with the sales and financing department. With this feeling of comfort and honest treatment I went back to purchase a third vehicle only to find that things have changed. My wife and I were looking for a New 2005 Dodge Durango SLT; the front line salesmen were very gracious in testing the vehicles and answering any questions. We did not find one with the color or options that fit our liking, the floor supervisor mentioned that the Hinkley warehouse (a lot at a different location) has approximately 30-Durangos and was sure he could find one to our liking. After about ten minutes he returned without any information concerning the other 30-Durangos, he did not even want to talk about them. It was as if he did not want to be bothered by finding a vehicle off of their mediate lot. He quickly said to pick one from their lot and they would make a deal. We lowered our expectations of the perfect vehicle to one that would work (wrong color and options). With the price set we moved into the financial department to complete the sale, without even checking with any financial lenders, the financial officer mentioned that the best interest I could find would be approximately 7%, this was unacceptable. The maximum that I would pay in interest for a vehicle would be 4%. He also mentioned that I did not qualify for the 2.9%-5 year Chrysler promotional interest rate. After a frustrating three days of this kind of treatment we returned home to Vernal Utah.
The following weekend I returned to Salt Lake City and stopped by A Menlove Dodge dealership in Bountiful Utah and to make a long story short they found a Durango with the right color, limited edition with far more options than we expected for less money then the SLT at Hinkley Dodge. When it came to the financial department I feared the worse, only to find that I did qualify for the 2.9%-5 year Chrysler promotional interest rate. We purchased the vehicle and drove it home that day. As far as Hinkley dodge is concerned I will not return nor encourage any one shopping for a car to deal with them. The current floor supervisors and finance officers there now have forgotten what once made Hinkley Dodge great.

Bought my truck "online", was the best price I could find anywhere, even Kellog. I arrived at the dealership with a check in-hand for the quoted price and that's exactly what the truck cost, no hidden fees over and above the price quote (I know that sounds like "well duh!" but hey, I was expecting the worst). 1/2 hour later I was on my way home in my new truck. Best purchasing experience I've ever had! (it was in 2003, so things may have changed). Went back for my first scheduled service, which was free. That went smooth. I do my own service so I haven't been back. Great truck, very happy.

Hinckley Dodge has the best service department. My family has done business with them for the past 15 years, and they have always taken care of us. My thanks to Larry Foote. He is awesome!!!!

I was looking for a 6 speed diesel which by the way are VERY hard to get these days (for some reason) Hinckley did not have any on the lot. They informed me that they may be able to get me one. I told them what I was looking for and requested a deposit prior to locating one. I thought this was a little strange at first but they explained to me that most dealers that have the six speed are not just willing to give one away. I understood and gave them an earnest deposit. I am proud to say that I got my truck and it was detailed beyond belief. The door jambs, the underside of the roof, everything was perfect. To top it off my salesman detailed my wife's car too!! She didn't even buy it there. It was as nice as my truck when it was all said and done.
Hinkley dodge, the easiest dealer to work with on ALL fronts.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Avoid, bought there=No, scv_there=Yes,
I brought my Caravan for some very specific repairs and recalls. My transmission had failed but it was under warranty from another dealer so they agreed to fix it as soon as the paperwork was found. That repair was completed but when I left, the hood latch was damaged (which was only discovered bc I went elsewhere to get my emissions tested) and the service department claimed it was like that when I initially brought it in. I was never told about the problem which leads me to believe that THEY damaged it. No dealership ignores a repair that will make them $$. Anyway, some negotiation (with the service advisor) was done on a refund of the repair costs promised but never delivered. After I faxed a letter to the service dept manager I received the information that the hood was already damaged (no admission of guilt on their part) when they initially repaired the vehicle and I was given a refund off all labor costs. I would have liked a full refund but I wasn't going to press my luck. They have lost our family's business. It's a good thing there are more Dodge Dealerships in Salt Lake City!
Don't get your vehicle repair at Hinkley Dodge! They are a nightmare.

Sales=Excellent, Service=Don't Know, bought there=Yes, scv_there=No,
I went to West Valley Dodge and I was amazed at how little their sales staff knew their product. I was more amazed at how little they knew english. When I got to the lot I got swarmed by this one kid, I politely asked him to let me search, and I would approach him if I saw something that I liked. Well, like white on rice, he kept pestering me. I told him 4 times to leave me be, he clearly didn't understand. I took a drive downtown and visited Hinckley Dodge. The salesman I met greeted me.
I told him I wanted some space and before I could even finish my sentence, he backed off and just let me wander the lot without any pestering at all. He was even nice enough to tell his associates not to bug me. What a pro. After about 15 minutes of looking around, I approached him about a used Grand Caravan. He took me to the used lot, and I couldn't find any reason to NOT buy from this guy. He was amazing. Thanks again!
I would recommend this dealership to anyone. I'm sick of the games that Larry Miller and Ken Garf play. Back you up? No more like back you into a corner. It's good to see that some dealerships don't play the same old game. I only wish I would have gotten a little more for my trade. I guess I can't have everything perfect.

I always bring my vehicle in for basic maintenance. My service writer is wonderful I would recommend them to all my family. My only complaint is that they could have done it faster, but I guess good service done right, is worth the wait.

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Avoid, Dishonest. Said the clutch on my '95 Neon needed to be replaced ($750). I had an independent mechanic replace the clutch cable for $150. When I called the service manager on it, he stated that "We wouldn't have charged you if the clutch really didn't need to be replaced."

Sales=Don't Know, Service=Avoid, Argumentative service mgr., Quality control fool treated me like I was stupid. When we went on a test drive for brake pull and I verified the problem he said "well do you brake like that normally". Long delays in getting truck back. No call backs. 1/2 the time truck was no better or worse for the visit. I will never go back.

Sales=Avoid, Service=Avoid, If there was any worse comment than avoid, it would be here. I took my vehicle in 3 times to have it repaired and each time they gave it back with nothing done to fix the problem. They just put on unnecessary parts. NEVER GO TO THESE THIEVES!!

Sales=Poor, Service=Poor, Long tale of a lemon of a vehicle, and a dealership that did not offer much help.

Sales=Poor, Service=Poor, The poor service, the bad attitude from the service people and the abysmal reliability of a vehicle that is supposed to be RAM Tough have tainted my experience. I really wish it could have been different. (A long tale of parts failures, service problems, and an unresponsive service department was included with a litany of lemon truck problems.)

Sales=Good, Service=Poor,   all I want to say is that they forced me to go to another dodge dealership for all my repairs

Dealership Rating:
Good sales department, good service
Fair sales, fair service
Conflicting or not enough information
Poor Service or Poor Sales Department
Avoid like the plague!!
Don't Know or No Experience
