I was bilked out of $6000 by a devious sales tactic employed by this dealership.
None of the trucks on the lot were quite what I was looking for in color, engine,
transmission etc, but one was found at another dealership on the computer. I
was told that they could bring the vehicle over for me to look at that but I
needed to sign a piece of paper that authorized them to do that, which I did.
Personal circumstances arose that prevented me from purchasing a vehicle at
this time. McCord said that I signed a "purchase agreement" and that
failure to take the vehicle represents a breach of contract. The only thing
they could do is buy the vehicle back as used $6000 below the sales price but
that I would be required to pay them that difference. According to my lawyer
it was a valid sales contract not simply an authorization to bring the vehicle
here and I would have to pay that $6000. Even though I am a fellow Daimler-Chrysler
employee I feel that I was lied to and will never do business with McCord Bros.
ever. Lesson: Beware of slick talking sales people and don't sign anything without
having your lawyer look at it first.

Recently was shopping for a vehicle for another family member. For whatever
reason, this dealership does not have an internet presence, so I paid a visit.
I was interested in a Dodge Caliber, and a couple Nissan models. The salesman
REFUSED to let me test drive, or even unlock, the vehicles I was interested
in, and proceeded to tell me they did not have any Calibers on the lot (of which
they did have three off to the side) and would not unlock any Nissans either.
He then started trying to sell me a few used cars instead, and in the process,
started badmouthing every other local dealership in town, which I thought was
very unprofessional. A few days later, I reluctantly returned with my Mother
to check out the Caliber, and the same salesman, tried to sell my mother a Durango,
which she clearly did not want. Very high pressure, and again, started badmouthing
other dealerships in the area. They seem like they are about fifteen years behind
the times, and it is dealerships like this one that drive people to places like
Idaho in the first place. We ended up purchasing another brand of vehicle, locally,
and had a good experience. If I want to purchase a new Dodge or Nissan in the
future, I will travel out of town to purchase the vehicle.

I had a issue that I found a solution to on a Dodge truck forum & suggested
it to the service dept. & they refused to even consider it. I replaced the
part(even though it was under warranty) & solved it. I would not let them
work on my wheelbarrow.

in sales and service for over 25 years. that's at ford, honda, chevy, olds,
pontiac, cad, subaru, most every brand of car and truck out there, also being
a commissioner on the local city board, i've heard nothing but horror stories

stores are out to gross and bubble there customers, don't even get me started
on the meat head order takers at dave smith, now there are some jim dandy's.
people in washington don't realize what they give up going out of state. consumer
protection for one not to mention if you have a paint problem you have to go
back to there dealership for paint repair, also if you make your money in your
home town, don't be a idiot and spend it elsewhere support your local mccords
dealership no one will beat there deals, also no balloons no ties no popcorn
no clowns no bull shi# you will get that at the metro stores, and dave smith
be smart buy at mccord's dodge nissan.

I dealt with John, and he did everything just the way it was quoted over the
phone to me. I live 90 miles from this dealership, and phone shopped at Dave
Smith/Kellog ID prior to calling McCord. My trade-in value was $2500 higher
at McCord on my 2004 Chev Silverado, and the new truck was about $1,300 less.
Very courteous in all regards all the way thru the transaction. I had a minor
starting problem (defective chip in key) with the truck, and called their service
department, they talked me thru the problem w/o having to go to a dealership,
again very courteous professional service. I would highly recommend this dealership,
and having read some of the negative comments from other customers, it seems
to me that people with a negative experience are much more likely to post online,
than someone who has an extremely positive experience such as mine.

I bought my husband a "new" truck on April 20 from McCord Dodge. About
a week and a half later, when my husband went to put steps on the truck, he
discovered that the truck had been wrecked. The underside of the truck bed had
a long spot containing rusting, dents, paint chipping and yellow paint from
whatever the truck had been run over. The spot ran from the point where the
cab and bed met to the tire. When my husband took it in, the service department
said the car had obviously been damaged in transport and should not have been
accepted on the lot, and they notified a sales manager. When the sales guy saw
the damage he said, "we'll repair the damage." But my husband said
that wasn't right. He negotiated and paid for a new, undamaged truck, which
was not what he was sold. He was sent back to the Senior Sales Manager to whom
he had negotiated the deal and was then given the "Well, what do you want?"
request. My husband, of course, wanted what he had paid for -- a new, unwrecked
truck. So, for two weeks he was given the run around. They said they'd repair
the damage and that was it. So, I went in with him two weeks later and was told
by both the Senior Sales Manager and the New Sales Manager, that receiving damaged
trucks and cars on their lot and selling them as "new" was routine.
The Senior Sales Manager said that almost all of the vehicles on the lot had
some sort of damage and the New Sales Manager informed me that at least one
from every two transports has some transportation damage to it, but they sell
them as new. Our truck, damage and all, was considered by McCord Dodge's Sales
Staff as New. Wow. You know, even department stores know to mark down the price
on damaged goods. They know that it is a misrepresentation of the product to
call it "new." You would think a car dealership should know better
as well.
Oh, yes. And to top it off, the middle rear break light that is attached to
the cab of the truck, leaks into the backseat.

The sales staff was good. When I took my truck in for a warranty brake problem
it took a week to fix, they didn't even look at it for days. When I took my
truck in for stalling problem they looked for diagnostic codes and told me there
was nothing wrong because the ECM had no codes. I am a diesel mechanic and told
them that my diagnosis was a bad transfer pump before the appointment. I think
I was justifiably angry when the transfer pump failed completely months later,
stranding my wife alone on the freeway five miles from town. I had to pay for
towing and informed the dealership of the failure. They waited 3 days to even
look at the truck and told me "your transfer pump is bad" then took
2 days to fix it. After some research (about 5 minutes on the internet) I found
a technical service bulletin describing transfer pump failure and early symptoms
that was released before my initial complaint. Any competent mechanic would
have looked for TSB's and recall info before even touching a vehicle. On the
other hand they are just blatantly incompetent, not criminal.

Just purchased a new vehicle from Mike and Don. They were really nice to work
with and did not use any high pressure sales tactics. Just very honest and did
everything they said they would at the price they quoted us. We would definitely
work with them again. We highly recommend them!!

I had a problem with my 2002 Diesel 4x4 that they worked on for 3 days fixing
and checking until they found the problem. They went way above the average repair
shop and I would not take my vehicle to anyone else. Very professional treatment

Hard core sales, will switch salesman etc. Mention Dave Smith Motors and you
are told that they won't service your vehicle if you bought it from Dave Smith.

Surprisingly I got very good service from them on one of my trucks the other
one they did exactly what they said they would do even though it didn't fix
the problem and so far no one else has been able to fix the problem either.
Over all they did a good job right up till I was driving out of the parking
lot and in the rear view mirror I read the words "Dave Smith customers are gay"
written in the dust on the canopy window. Of coarse "they didn't know who did
it" boy there were a few people in the service dept. that got an ear full! Last
time there for me!!

I live in Longview and after trying to avoid them like the plague taking my
trucks to Portland and Vancouver Dealers 30 to 40 miles away, and having terrible
service problems there too, I went to them asking about service manuals "the
ones they use" they told me they are not available to the public, just bring
your vehicles in we will take care of them. I told him "NO WAY" I have herd
nothing but bad things about this place. I have to agree they Dodge needs to
shut them down.

This Dealer should be shut down. They have rewrote the book on crooked sales
and service. I've purchased three vehicles from them and the last two have been
a joke. The 2001 I purchased has been a reliable vehicle with little or few
problems to date, but the used vehicle I purchased was knowingly bad by the
dealer and almost killed myself and my daughter 6 days after purchase. These
guys are written up in the local paper all the time for ripping people off.
They are a total embarrassment to Dodge and there products!
