Front Disc Brake Noise Bendix Disc Brakes

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX DISC BRAKES (3.38" CALIPER PISTONS).

Symptoms:

Vehicles equipped,with Bendix Disc Brakes may encounter front disc pad noise.  

Diagnosis:

Road test vehicle to verify noise complaint.  

Parts:

1     Kit, Front Wheel Disc Brake    52004567 

Repair:

This repair involves grinding or filing a chamfer (bevel) on both ends of the front disc brake outboard shoe.

1.    Refer to the appropriate service manual for front disc pad removal and installation procedures.

2.    Grind or file a chawfor (bevel) an the now outboard shoe (largest shoe) at both ends of the lining 1.08 inch long to within .200 inch of the shoe plate, see Figure 1. Perform the mine prmodure for both the right and left outboard shoe and lining assemblies.
