Models: 1990-1991 AD Trucks With Cummins 5.9L Diesel
Symptom/Condition:
Vehicles may experience some leakage from the lower radiator hose at the water pump connection even though the clamp has been properly tightened. This is due to a step in the cast water pump nipple.
Parts Required:
1 - Hose Clamp 02448763
Form-A-Gasket or Permatex (non hardening) or equivalent
Repair Procedure:
This repair involves installing a second hose clamp next to the existing clamp on the lower radiator hose at the water pump.
1. Drain cooling system.
2. Remove the lower radiator hose from the water pump.
3. Apply sealer to water pump nipple and install the lower hose using the original hose clamp and the new hose clamp. Torque to 4.6 N-m (40 in. lbs). Refill the cooling system.
4. Bring vehicle up to operating temperature and check for leaks.
