Viscous Fan Drive Noise

Symptom/Condition:

Some vehicles may exhibit a cold start fan "roar" noise for the first 1-2 minutes of operation/or the transmission may seem to be slipping. Customers may complain that the transmission is staying in low gear (delayed upshift). Vehicles exhibiting this condition should have this bulletin performed.

Repair Procedure:

This repair involves replacement of the viscous fan drive with a revised one.

1. Remove the fan drive as outlined in the appropriate service manual.

2. Replace the appropriate fan drive with one called out in PARTS REQUIRED.
