NOTE: THIS INFO APPLIES ONLY TO VEHICLES BUILT AT DODGE CITY (AN "S" IN THE 11TH VIN POSITION WITH A 42RE/44RE AUTOMATIC.
[From Bob: this probably does not apply to any pickups as I don't think any come from Dodge City-DC builds Ram vans and 1 ton chassis models without pickup boxes for conversion and others-big vans I think]
Discussion:
Some newly delivered vehicles may exhibit what looks to be a transmission front pump seal leak due to wetness around the lower edge of the bell housing. The wetness could be caused by the assembly plant initially overfilling the trans and correcting the condition before the vehicles left the plant. The wetness, in this case, is due to fluid seeping out of the transmission vent hole while it was overfull.
Notes: Information only bulletin
