Models: 1998 Ram Club and Quad cab (BE) trucks built at the Saltillo plant (a "G" in the 11th VIN position) from April 6, '98 through April 17, '98 (MDH 040606 through 041712)

Problem: The front, outer seat belt buckles on about 2,950  Rams MAY not have been properly made. This will increase the risk of injury to a belted occupant under certain accident conditions. The front outer seat belt buckles must be replaced.

Repair:

  1. Move the front seats to the full rearward position
  2. Fold the front seat backs forward
  3. Remove the nuts that attach both front outer seat belt buckle assemblies to the seat frames
  4. Remove and discard the seat belt buckle assemblies
  5. Install new buckle assemblies
  6. Tighten the seat belt buckle anchor nuts to 30 ft-lbs
  7. Return the front seats backs to their original positions
